Barbara – 2016

07.09.2015 I started my training with Dispo Tf Education  to becoming a train driver!

Yes a train driver, master of 4075 PS on the tracks. It was not easy and it felt like you hit the floor running and have not stopped. It is crazy the amount of stuff that has to be learnt. The reality is that all the rules and regulations are there because of fatal train crashes. So it is Important that the information is not just learnt but also understood.

My training was not without it’s numerous up and downs. I discovered that “needing new glasses” was not that simple. I had cataracts and that needed surgery in the middle of my studies. Not allowing enough time for the healing process + Nerves resulted in my repeating “Betriebsdienst” (Operational Services), so falling back not just 1 class but 2 classes.

I did pass it finally and with 91% and was able to go on practical drives. There are so many different trains that the studying never really ends train Type BR 152, 183-Taurus, 185 & 193- Vectron and co. Security systems are installed and the correct usage of them to be mastered PZB and LZB in theory and in practice.

The Final exam the written and oral exam I was very nervous about especially with my having repeated the Operational services section. Both written and oral exam passed on the 1st try. I am so excited and thankfull.

Now I have 30 driving lessons to do before I can apply for the final practical exam. Every train driver has their way of driving the diverse trains with their diverse loads diverse breaks and diverse weather conditions, it takes time to get your driving style that will also get you the pass in the final prac exam. 16 drives done , love them and fear them too, healthy respect for the trains and tracks. 14 drives to go …

24 – 28.10.2016 One of those days will be my final prac drive, send me positive thoughts and wishes. I have really enjoyed this training much much more than I could have imagined.
